Why Use An Acrylic Aquarium

Acrylic aquariums or perspex aquariums are now by far the best quality going round. Acrylic aquariums offer all the right qualities needed for a tank - yet this was not always the case. The earlier acrylic aquariums or perspex aquariums were not well-received because they were highly susceptible to scratching. However, more contemporary models are of the scratch-resistant type or are coated with special protective polymers and have the additional benefit of weighing much less than their glass counter-parts.

Furthermore, any initial problems had with perspex or plastic tanks through distortion of the view have effectively been removed making them not only a cheaper choice but a more popular one. What is more, perspex allows for greater variety in terms of shapes that fish tanks can come in, with the ability to have curved surfaces something hard to achieve with glass.

Furthermore, the acrylic aquarium varieties are now a lot stronger than their glass counterparts, any where up to twenty times as strong. They better regulate the water temperature are easy to maintain, remove the need to have water sealers joining the corners and so rarely leak. Consequently for all aforementioned reasons, perspex aquariums now out-sell the traditional glass variety. Little wonder.
