Ode to the Fake Fish AquariumFor those of you either too apprehensive of the process necessary to set up an aquarium or without the time or resources (isn't that just about all of us) there is a solution. The advent of the fake aquarium or desktop aquarium . With zero maintenance costs, no fear of accidentally killing your beloved fish and totally transportable the fake aquarium may just be the answer to your every need.
In all seriousness there are many advantages to fake aquariums. Not the least of these being their low cost. While their real counterparts can quite literally consume vast sums of money the fake aquarium normally cost anything from around $10-$100 but rarely more than this. Typically they are quite kitsch in style and are usually fitted with a number of floating plastic fish of the fluorescent nature. These may come with or without corals and other look-a-like aquatic plants or accessories. This is largely dependent on the size of your chosen fake aquarium . While this is not everyone taste, it maybe just the thing to brighten up your dull office space without the requirement of having to tend to its needs.simply because it has none. Whatsmore, fake aquariums come in all different sizes and shapes. So they are easily accommodated into even the smallest areas. Furthermore, not all look so obviously artificial and some are quite effective. When it comes to fake fish aquariums you have a choice as to whether you purchase a pre-made one or assemble one yourself. If you have opted to go down the path of a 'fake aquarium' then generally you are more likely to be time poor. This is the most common reason people choose these types of aquariums. Having said this.then you probably do not want to spend much time buying the individual parts and arranging an aquarium. If this is you then the hardest part is in trying to find stockists , as fake aquariums tend to quickly cycle in and out of vogue depending on whether time minimalising is in. Sometimes your local pet-store may have some otherwise stores specializing in aquarium setups. But for the more colourful variety and often with greater variety are those to be found in generalist novelty stores. So keep your eye out!!! Alternatively, for those of you who are prepared to outlay some time initially in getting your aquatic environment just to your liking there is virtually endless choice. As with 'true' aquariums you must choose a tank (or even a bowl). The size of this will largely depend on the area you wish to fill and how much you want to spend. Next you will need to purchase gravel or sand for the base and an assortment of artificial fish and plants and/or corals. These can be bought at all good specialty fish shops and pet-stores. The arrangement is purely up to your creativity. One word of advice though..to avoid the water becoming murky with dust use a cover over the top of you tank. This way you will never have to touch your tank unless you want to redesign it.
