The Shedd Aquarium

The Shedd Aquarium is claimed to be the largest indoor aquarium in the world. Based in Chicago it is located in the Grant Park Museum Complex ( Roosevelt Rd at LakeShore Drive ). It was officially opened in 1929 making it one of the earliest public commercial aquariums in the world.

In terms of displays, the Shedd aquarium has numerous displays all highlighting the different aquatic environments to be found around the world. Among the exhibits are:

•  the Caribbean reef exhibit (displaying sharks and sting-rays)

•  the wild reef aquarium (also featuring sharks)

•  an Amazon feature

•  a pacific northwest aquarium, and most notably

•  fish from around the world in the OCEANARIUM
